Colleen writes clear and easy to understand information for patients and caregivers. She is an expert in transforming a complex diagnosis into plain language and is a long-time advocate for patient empowerment. Colleen has extensive experience in building several successful virtual health communities.
Colleen’s Health Care Social Media Canada is a thriving community that exceeds 6500 members who share and learn through online tools to make health care more open and connected. As the Engagement and Community Manager for @VirtualHospice, Colleen has built a sustainable community for patients and caregivers seeking online peer support at the end of life and through bereavement. Colleen is a firm believer in leveraging social media and technology as place for:
- Engaged patients and providers;
- The driving force in participatory medicine and peer-to-peer health care.
Colleen helps patients, family members and other supporters take control of their care and supports and encourages people to become more engaged as they are some of the most valued members of their personal health care team.
